Henderson Chambers is recognised as one of the leading property/real estate litigation chambers in London by Chambers UK and the Legal 500. Chambers UK states that Henderson Chambers takes “a focused approach to property litigation” and Legal 500 notes that the Group “possesses fine advocates” who are “meticulous in preparation”. A number of members of the Property Group are individually recommended in the directories.
The Property Group covers four key practice areas: general property law, commercial and residential landlord and tenant, housing stock and PFI, and other property-related matters. The work carried out includes both contentious and non-contentious property law, providing commercially-focused expert advice, drafting and advocacy services.
Members of the Group have appeared in property matters before the House of Lords, the Court of Appeal, the High Court and County Courts, as well as before the Lands Tribunal and the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal and other specialist property tribunals.
The Group acts for a diverse client base including national and local government, property developers, insurers, commercial landlords, estates, social landlords and private individuals. Members are frequently instructed on a Licensed Access and Public Access basis.
A particular strength of the set is its ability to use well-known expertise in related areas such as public law, local government law and environmental law to offer clients comprehensive, multi-specialism property expertise.
