Tenancy and Beyond
Our junior tenants operate in an extraordinarily diverse array of areas of practice. They switch between running their own cases and being team players led by silks in massive pieces of litigation. They are expected to develop and market their own careers from the outset.
There are regular clerking and career development reviews as well as a mentoring system. Former pupils are never far away to talk through any issues that may arise. We have been described as having a family or community atmosphere, and junior tenants enjoy the help and support of the more established members of Chambers. We operate an open door policy and help and assistance with difficult points of practice and procedure can be sought, day and night.
Opportunities
We encourage secondments to solicitors firms with whom we have close ties, to in-house legal departments and to public bodies including the Government Legal Department and the Financial Conduct Authority.
Many junior tenants have greatly benefited from exciting judicial assistantships in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal and this provides invaluable experience and long lasting judicial relationships.
We also support the Free Representation Unit and the Bar Pro Bono Unit and encourage our junior members to take on occasional pro bono work.
